Discovery interviews

Customer discovery at the speed of a question.

Customer discovery interviews are open-ended conversations with current or potential customers to understand their problems, behaviours, and unmet needs before a product or feature is built. You have a hunch. You need to know if it holds. Discovery interviews are how you find out, but they take time you don't have. Robbie runs them for you.

How it works

Brief Robbie

Tell Robbie what you're trying to learn and who you're talking to. Takes about five minutes.

Participants open it on their own time and talk to Robbie directly, by text or voice.

Read the synthesis

Robbie synthesises every conversation into themes, surprises, standout quotes and hypotheses.

15 interviews

£15030 mins per interview

15 interviews is a typical round for a single research question, and 30 minutes is enough to go deep without losing participants. No annual commitment, no minimum. £10 per 30 minutes of interview time, invoiced the following month.

What you get back

After each interview Robbie produces an executive summary, the themes it found (ranked by how consistently they appeared), any surprises that diverged from the brief, and three to five standout quotes. Once you've run a full round, Robbie finds themes across all conversations.

You can download the full report as a Word document and share it with your stakeholders.

FAQs

What is customer discovery?
Customer discovery is the process of talking to current or potential customers to understand their problems and needs before building a product or feature. It is the first phase of the product development cycle, before design or engineering begins.
How is Robbie different from sending a survey?
A survey captures what people think. A discovery interview captures why they think it. Robbie asks follow-up questions, probes for specifics, and adapts to each participant, so you get the reasoning behind the answer, not just the answer.
How many discovery interviews do I need?
Most teams reach saturation at 10–15 interviews for a single research question. Robbie flags when themes are consistently reinforcing across participants, which tells you when you have heard enough.
Can participants complete the interview on a phone?
Yes. Robbie works on any device with a browser. No app or download is required. Participants choose text or voice at the start.
How long does each interview take?
You set the maximum duration in your brief. Most discovery interviews run between 20 and 40 minutes. Robbie wraps up before the limit.
